Primary Coverages
Base Network Coverage
The Base Network is the main Toolbox coverage, containing the Project Database and the Turns Database. The arcs of the coverage should represent the network as it appears in the Base Year. Projects can be created to alter the network for future-year simulations.Zone Boundary Coverage
The Zone Coverage is a simple polygon coverage showing the boundaries of the Traffic Analysis Zones used in your simulation model. The polygons must have an item that identifies their zone number in EMME/2; the name of this item can be defined in your Configuration File.Note that the Zone Coverage is optional -- it is only required for running the Ensemble Editor.
Auxiliary Coverages
Cutlines Coverage
The Cutline Coverage is a simple arc coverage used for identifying EMME/2 links that cross a specified screen line. Screen lines can be used for many purposes, most commonly for calibrating a simulation model to a set of traffic counts.Note that this coverage is optional; if no Cutline Coverage is specified, then the Toolbox will not include screen line information when building a simulation network.
Geographic Extent Coverage
The Geographic Extent Coverage is a simple polygon coverage that is used to identify EMME/2 links that fall into specified geographic regions. If a link falls into more than one region, it will be included in the region where the majority of the link lies. The exact manner in which the flagging occurs can be set in your Configuration File.Note that this coverage is optional; if no Geographic Extent Coverage is specified, then the Toolbox will not include geographic information when building a simulation network.
Data Files
For information about how individual items are defined in the above coverages, please refer to Item Definitions.
Ensemble Database
The Ensemble Database, an info table named ensemble_file, is used to store information about EMME/2 Zone Ensembles. When you run the Ensemble Editor, the Info file will be automatically created if it does not exist in your current directory.
